A local running group set up by Middlewich resident Darren Roberts aims to get more people out running together, both beginners and professionals alike.
Motivation, it’s what we all need but what we all feel we lack. Especially when it comes to exercise. But would you be more inclined to get out running if you were with a group of friends? Middlewich resident Darren Roberts thinks this is the answer
I spoke to the clubs founder to find out why he thinks Run Middlewich is the answer.
Being part of the club gives you the motivation you need to leave the house, when often you feel like staying in watching the television. – Darren Roberts
The keen athlete set up Run Middlewich back in 2015 and since then the group of runners have been meeting up Tuesdays and Saturdays to get out and get fit. The group doesn’t have any target audience and no experience is required to get involved. The one single aim of this friendly group is to encourage anybody who wants to get out running, but doesn’t want to go it alone, to go along and meet new people.
As well as meeting twice a week for social runs, the group also enters the occasional running event from park runs and 10k runs to marathons.
We don’t take ourselves too seriously, we like to run and have a natter whilst getting fitter and faster each week. – Darren Roberts
Run Middlewich isn’t all about the running though! ‘members benefits’ include curry nights, group events and the occasional well deserved drink after a good run…
